Congratulations to the 2003 Regional Inspectors of the Year
Steve Ditmer of Delmar, Del., was the recipient of the 2003 National Inspector of the Year and the Wesley R. Meier Outstanding Inspecting Forester of the Year award. Ditmer received his award during the National Tree Farmer Convention held last fall in Columbus, Ohio.
Ditmer became a volunteer inspector for ATFS in 1990. Last year he completed 18 reinspections and placed 33 Tree Farm signs on landowner property.
He continuously works to promote ATFS and sustainable forestry. Ditmer conducts press interviews; distributes informational material to students, landowners, civic groups, and government members; and coordinates the Tree Farm silent auction at the Delaware Forestry Association’s annual meeting.
Through all his work, his passion for the work that family forest owners do on a day-to-day basis is what keeps him inspired. “It is you, the forest landowner, who inspires and energizes the inspecting certified forester,” Ditmer told the Tree Farmers assembled for the awards ceremony at the National Tree Farmer Convention in Columbus, OH.
His commitment, dedication, and tireless efforts on behalf of ATFS, earned Ditmer the well-deserved titled of National Inspector of the Year.
