Important Update Regarding Inspector Expiration dates

September 6, 2017 at 5:46 PM by certification

It was recently brought to our attention that the inspector training policy was not being implemented properly in the ATFS database, where inspector training records are held. As a result of a coding error in the database, training expiration dates had been incorrectly calculated. We apologize for the confusion.  This error has been corrected and you should have received a notice about your acccuract expiration date.

Some of you may find that you expiration date is sooner than expected. If that is the case, you will receive a subsequent email with training options. This change has no effect on any CFE credits earned.

Furthermore, we recognize that you contribute more than inspections to the ATFS program. In an effort to support inspector contributions, other training applications can now count towards extending your inspector credentials. Approved training applications include:

  1. Facilitating an inspector training for the state committee or region as a trained, active ATFS Facilitator. This activity is approved for 2 SAF Category 3 credits.
  2. Participating in a third-party field assessment as a representative of the State Tree Farm Committee or a landowner or client, as an ATFS Inspecting Forester. These activities are approved for 2 SAF Category 3 credits.
  3. Participating in an Inspector Mentoring program.
  4. Conducting activities as an implementer of an ATFS IMG or Individual Certificate holder.
  5. Performing an Assessment as a qualified third-party auditor for an ANAB or SCC accredited certification body/auditing firm for an ATFS regional assessment, IMG or Individual Certificate holder.

You can read more about the details of these new applications online. If you have any questions, please contact Nephtali Chavez.
